Kelvin Kariuki, a guru in social media marketing and online writing, revealed that he struggled to find success after earning his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Kenyatta University (KU).
He tried his hand at various businesses, but none succeeded, leaving him frustrated and desperate.
How did Kariuki land his OnlyFans gig?
“I always had a passion to excel and earn through social media. Back in 2019, I approached a politician and requested to manage and promote his page, but I never received a response,” he recalled.

Later, Kariuki came across a post on Telegram advertising virtual assistant jobs. He clicked the link, filled out a form, and two days later received a WhatsApp message asking if he had applied for the position.
The hiring assistant requested more details about his experience. Despite having only basic skills from managing his own social media pages and groups, he was hired and given clear guidelines.
Kariuki was tasked with creating Threads accounts for specific models using their photos. Although unsure about the payment, he was determined to work after his internship at another company ended.
How much was Kariuki's first pay?
“Within two weeks, I managed to gather 300 followers on Threads. I then requested my first payment. The lady who hired me asked for my payment details, they use Binance, Skrill, IBAN, and PayPal. I provided my PayPal email, but when I received a notification of payment, there was no money in my account. I feared I had been scammed,” he said.
Frustrated, he confronted the lady, and the situation escalated. Eventually, she referred him to her manager.
After a back-and-forth exchange, Kariuki finally received his payment, KSh 2,277. However, he lost the job due to the way he handled the situation.
“I pleaded with the manager for a second chance, but he had had enough and blocked me,” Kariuki said.
How many accounts does Kariuki manage?
Surprisingly, two days later, the manager unblocked him and reached out, asking if he was still interested in the job, to which Kariuki agreed.
They held a live meeting, discussed further, and he was assigned two more accounts. Months later, he was managing six additional accounts.
Now, he works under a new manager and operates 18 accounts, each earning him KSh 4,555 per month, which, according to him it is not little money.
Kariuki also mentors others interested in online work and connects them with available jobs, including chat moderation roles.

Why did Geoffrey Mosiria blast OnlyFans star Alicia Kanini
This comes just days after Nairobi County Official Geoffrey Mosiria blasted Kenyan OnlyFans star Alicia Kanini and equally blamed her fans for supporting her obscene content.
"It is deeply concerning that Alicia Kanini has chosen to publicly share a morally degrading video that openly exposes her inappropriate sexual behaviour. Even more troubling is the silence and celebration from some quarters, as if such acts deserve praise," he shared on Facebook.
Mosiria said endorsing and supporting such content can only do more harm, especially to the young generation, who will be exposed to it as they grow up.
"As a society, we must ask ourselves what message we are sending to our young girls and future generations. Are we endorsing obscenity and immorality as acceptable forms of expression? Obscenity is not just a moral concern; it is a criminal offence under Kenyan law," he added.

At just 22, Mbugua flaunted his lavish lifestyle online, revealing he had spent hundreds of thousands of Kenyan shillings on furniture, money earned through his hustle.
He narrated his journey, which he noted was not easy, but he was glad he never lost hope, as it was finally paying off.
