Residents of Muret have been left shocked and grieving following the death of a young woman who worked as a bar attendant at one of the local entertainment joints.

Precious’s lifeless body was discovered inside a guesthouse room just hours after she had checked in with an unidentified man.

One of her colleagues revealed that the man initially approached her, but she declined his request.

She explained that the man claimed to be a long-distance truck driver in need of a place to rest, and paid for a room at the establishment.

“He said he wanted me to keep him company. I refused and told him I was busy. He even offered to pay me, but I stood my ground and told him I would only be free from 3 pm,” she said.

At 3 pm, the colleague saw the man with Precious but did not pay much attention at the time.

The man, now a suspect, is reported to have fled with Precious’s phone and the key to the room after locking her inside.

Police officers who were called to the scene moved the young woman’s body to a nearby mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

What did Muret chairman say?

Fred Iliza, a local leader in Muret, Arusha described the incident as inhumane and deeply troubling for the community.

“Such acts may bring fear and unrest among peaceful residents. We strongly condemn these killings, as the number of people dying in guesthouses has become alarming,” he said.

He urged staff and management at such establishments to remain vigilant and thoroughly vet clients before offering services.

Iliza also called on anyone who saw the suspect to cooperate with the police to help solve the young woman’s murder.

“I do not know exactly how she died, and we are waiting for the police to conclude their investigations,” he added.

The woman had reportedly checked into a lodging with a man believed to be her lover, but never made it out alive.
