“I even have a doctor’s note. My child told me the teacher has those long fake nails. Her chest was swollen. So I’m only asking teachers to stop harming our children with those fake nails,” said the concerned parent, as giggles filled the gathering.
Following her complaint, the school’s headteacher responded calmly to the concerned parent and apologised on behalf of the teacher accused.
“I cannot tell teacher Ivy not to come to school with long nails. I am very sorry about what happened to your daughter, but it was not intentional. All our children are different, and maybe when scratched, they can get an infection,” he said.
He further explained that there is no time when a teacher would intentionally harm a pupil. The headteacher also urged teachers to be very careful when handling pupils to avoid such cases.

“Parents in most private schools wako hivi. Kuna mzazi tulisumbuana na yeye due to a minor issue juu niliuliza mtoto wako kwa nini huwa hafanyi assignment because it was a recurring issue. The parent called the school director and told her how I was yelling at the child. The director has to please parents to maintain numbers. I was called and summoned, but remember, I didn’t yell. I teach students who align with my rules and the way I conduct my classes. Those who don’t, I ignore them. Students don’t love a strict teacher; they will say anything against them. Parents behave as if they don’t punish their kids. You are not punishing the teacher; you are punishing your own kid. If your kid tells you they have an issue with a teacher, call the class teacher or the teacher directly so you can hear their side of the story.”
