Did Quickmart compensate Shishi and Alpha?
The pair took to TikTok to update their followers after being asked whether they had received compensation.
Shishi thanked Kenyans who had helped fight for them to get justice and addressed rumours that they had already been compensated.
She explained that they had been actively pursuing the matter and had engaged a lawyer, who was in communication with the supermarket’s legal team.
“Most of you think we are quiet because we were compensated and that is why we have been silent. That is not true. We drafted the demand letter, which was presented to them, and we have been waiting since,” she said.
The young woman said they had received no tangible information regarding compensation, adding that they were being taken in circles.
Shishi expressed hope that her decision to speak out and call out injustice would encourage others in similar situations to do the same.

Did COFEK address Quickmart issue?
In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported that the Consumer Federation of Kenya (COFEK) condemned the incident and called for action to be taken by the retailer.
COFEK demanded that the young woman and her brother be compensated by the retailer following their ordeal.
According to the consumer federation, an apology was not enough for the humiliation and traumatic experience Shishi and her brother endured.
COFEK secretary general Stephen Mutoro criticised the steps taken by Quickmart, noting that having the branch manager step aside was a joke.
