Branton Wanjala formed an unbreakable and unique bond with a stray dog he rescued, treating him not just as a pet but as a loyal companion and best friend.

Where did Branton Wanjala meet Simba?

Wanjala said he met the dog, Simba, on his way home from school and began playing with him.

“I could throw stones at Simba, but the more I did, the more he came back to me, so I decided to take him home and care for him,” he said.

Wanjala noted that he takes the dog everywhere he goes, and most times, while at the market, people stare in amazement and even take photos.

He added that his motivation to dress Simba and keep him clean comes from what he learnt in school about looking after pets at home.

He dressed the dog in green and white shorts, a faded black shirt, and a black tie.

“I love my dog so much. I cook for him every day, and sometimes I wish we could share a room, but for now, he sleeps outside,” stated the young man.

The strong bond between the two was evident as Simba allowed his owner to carry and pet him while lying comfortably in his arms.

The two best friends played together, with Wanjala throwing a toy as Simba ducked and caught it.

“I feed him ugali, porridge, and meat. I love him so much, and I wanted him to dress so we could match outfits. When I am not at school, he accompanies me everywhere I go, and anytime I leave him at home, he runs to me the moment I step into the compound,” Wanjala shared.

“If you don't own a dog, you have not tasted genuine love.”

Arap Ngetich:

“In a country where dogs like Simba are usually undermined, this is great news. Inspiring the public to treat their dogs well, like this boy.”

“Only a few people will understand him. Keep it up, young man.”

Margaret Brandenburg:

“In the diaspora, people dress their dogs and even sleep with them in bed. A dog is very protective of its owner and of people who associate with it.”
