Sorrow as Nakuru Man Is Killed in Accident During Test Drive

A family in Nakuru is mourning a man who died in a terrible accident while he was test-driving a car, together with his grandfather and a mechanic.

Paul Mwangi, his grandfather and a mechanic were aboard the ill-fated vehicle, which was meant to take a short test drive to check if the car was in good shape.

The vehicle, which belonged to his grandfather, had been taken to the garage after developing some mechanical issues, and after it was fixed, they decided to do a quick test drive.

It was during this drive that the unimaginable happened.

"As they were near Mediheal Hospital, Mwangi tried to overtake a truck but didn’t manage to finish. The truck hit the back of his car, causing it to spin and face the wrong direction. The car was then pushed to the side of the road," the mechanic's dad told Mtaa Wangu publication.

Photos which were shared on social media showed the grisly scene as the truck crashed on top of the saloon car.

Paul was stuck in the wreckage for some time before the police, helped by the members of the public, managed to retrieve him while he was unresponsive. He was later confirmed dead.

His grandfather and the mechanic escaped with minor injuries.

Kenyans react to Nakuru accident

Sospeter Sos, who was an eyewitness, said.

"We were behind that lorry man..the small car lost control.. the driver of the small car died helplessly because we could not remove the lorry.. luckily, 2 people came out well and sound from that car. The conductor of the lorry got a minor injury, but the driver of the lorry was not injured. Tushukuru Mungu sana hii maisha kutoka na kurudi home safe ni baraka."

Evanz Ojoshua said:

"Katika safari zetu tuweke Mungu mbele kwanza ,shetani anang'ang'ana sana kutumaliza."

"It was so bad. We passed there."

Frederick Muitiriri's family involved in accident

In other news, the family of journalist Frederick Muitiriri recently survived a grisly accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

"Yesterday in the foggy, misty and extremely cold Kimende weather, my wife, kids and our househelp got into an accident just before Soko Mjinga on their way to Nakuru. Waliingia chini ya lorry from behind. We truly thank God that no one was hurt except some soft tissue injuries on two kids, belts zilisaidia, and of course, the natural trauma of such an ugly accident," he said.

He said the weather was too foggy, affecting the visibility of the road, which took him hours to arrive at the scene of the accident.
