Sorrow was evident in the faces of the grieving family, especially her parents, who were still struggling to come to terms with the demise of their daughter.
Phillip Koech Kipchumba painfully opened up about his daughter's toxic relationship with her suspected killer.
How was Naomi's relationship according to her father?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Kipchumba shared that his daughter's relationship had been shaky and rocky for a while.
"They had been living together for a couple of years, and they had been fighting and arguing for a while. We had even tried to resolve their arguments with our son-in-law's parents, but it was almost impossible. When the fights became too much my daughter reported to the police. But I don't know what transpired because they got back together. They used to argue a lot and I'd receive calls from their househelp telling me about their arguments," he said.
Kipchumba recalled when one of his daughters called him and put the phone on speaker to hear Naomi and her husband engaged in a heated argument.
Naomi's husband threatened to kill her, their kids
The heartbroken father of seven claimed Naomi's hubby used to hurl threats at her and their children.
"So the last time, that was in November, the issue became serious. Because the man threatened to end her life as well as their children's lives. We heard that as they were arguing on speakerphone. So that morning, Naomi and her husband argued, and it ended up being a huge fight.

Luckily, she called us and told us that the company she was working for had given her some money, and she'd rented a house. So we advised her to live on her own so that we could take some time to observe what the man wanted because we didn't know his intentions," he narrated.
Why did Naomi Chebet stick with her husband?
Despite efforts to keep Naomi away from her husband, Kipchumba reckoned love was too strong.
He later found out that they had been staying together, but Naomi had been silent about it.
"She tried, and she thought the man would change. Based on what we were told later on, she had tried, and she had even called her father-in-law, asking what they had discussed with his son. My daughter had wanted to fight for her family because she didn't want to be remarried, and her husband had told his parents that they had gotten back together.
The man even said that he had changed so that was when our daughter got back together with him against our wishes and that was what pained me the most because we tried telling our daughter that if they had to get back together, at least they should involve us as the parents and allow us to have a discussions," he added.
