KERICHO COUNTY — In a heartbreaking turn of events, an 11-month-old baby boy has been found abandoned at Kapkatet Hospital.

The child, who is currently safe and under the care of medical staff, was discovered with no information regarding his identity or family.

It is unclear whether the toddler's parents left him behind by mistake or if he was abandoned voluntarily.
Hospital authorities shared photos of the little boy on social media and made a passionate appeal to members of the public.
The post requested the public to reach out if they recognise the child or have any information that could help trace his family.
"Please get in touch with the hospital’s Public Relations Officer immediately. Any lead, no matter how small, could reunite this precious little one with his loved ones," the notice read in part.

The plea reiterated that, as much as the hospital was doing everything at its disposal, the baby deserves the warmth of a family and a safe place to grow up.
Kenyans on social media opined that if the mother left the baby knowingly, she made the right choice instead of harming him, as many others do.

One-day-old baby abandoned in Ngong
This comes a day after a young boy and his guardian rescued a one-day-old infant in Ngong, Kajiado county.
The youngster was walking on the road when he heard a baby crying in the thicket, prompting him to investigate.
James Ouma, who is the young boy's mentor, was turned away from three public hospitals due to an ongoing strike by medics in Kajiado County.
The two Good Samaritans finally managed to secure a new home for the infant at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Ouma believes the baby's mother abandoned him because he has deformed feet.
