It is unclear whether the toddler's parents left him behind by mistake or if he was abandoned voluntarily.

Social media users react to news about abandoned baby

The plea reiterated that, as much as the hospital was doing everything at its disposal, the baby deserves the warmth of a family and a safe place to grow up.

Kenyans on social media opined that if the mother left the baby knowingly, she made the right choice instead of harming him, as many others do.

Locals have already begun spreading the word on social media and in nearby communities, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Felix Anguu:

"More grace to the mother. May God's intervention and grace locate and bring back the mother."

Schera Rita Gori:

"May God bless this abandoned baby. At least he was left intact and not killed or worse. Jesus will watch over him."

One-day-old baby abandoned in Ngong

This comes a day after a young boy and his guardian rescued a one-day-old infant in Ngong, Kajiado county.

The youngster was walking on the road when he heard a baby crying in the thicket, prompting him to investigate.

James Ouma, who is the young boy's mentor, was turned away from three public hospitals due to an ongoing strike by medics in Kajiado County.

The two Good Samaritans finally managed to secure a new home for the infant at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Ouma believes the baby's mother abandoned him because he has deformed feet.
