A man who was looking forward to a delicious meal of misheveve and other kienyeji leafy vegetables was bitterly disappointed when he discovered that he had been sold sticks.

How did shopper discover the con game?

The man who was sampling the veggies, probably thinking of having them with the meat being sold right behind him, removed the strings holding the bundle together and the sticks fell out.

"Can I show you what they have done to me, just look at this...it is only sticks, these are vegetables and these are the sticks; we are using virakas even in vegetables?" he asked.

Normally, it is people who eat meat that are subjected to uninspected meat from donkeys, and in some extreme cases, game meat.

It was, therefore, a surprise to most netizens that this could happen with vegetable vendors as well, and they thronged the comments section to register their surprise.

In another story, it emerged that cases of online scams are on the rise in Kenya, and the worst thing is that the scammers are coming up with even cleverer ways to scam people.

According to details from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), cybercrime skyrocketed to 1.7 million cases in December 2023.

Llewellyn Ouya, a social media expert, shared that the latest trending scams used by fraudsters to defraud Kenyans involve technology.

Moses Kemibaro spoke to TUKO.co.ke and said the trends could escalate more because of trends in cybercrime globally.
