Rolence Kariuki faces an uphill task of raising KSh 163,074 to settle his wife Lilian Obondo's medical bill.

The ailing mother of three has been receiving treatment at St Matia Mulumba Mission Hospital, Thika.

Which disease is Kariuki's wife ailing?

She was admitted to the medical facility for a month as she underwent tuberculosis (TB) treatment.

"A lot has happened within the one month, at some point Obondo needed a donor to donate blood and that one friend of Kariuki a fellow rider came to donate blood but on the way back home he was involved in an accident and died on the spot something they have not been able to tell Obondo till now.

Taking care of the children and at the same time working with his hired motorcycle, which he was paying for daily and going to check on his wife in the hospital at some point, the pressure was too much for him," Derrick Mbugua's post read.

How much did SHA cater for Kariuki's wife's bills?

Kariuki was compelled to take his three kids to their grandmother as he desperately sought a financial solution for his wife's medical bill.

However, upon coming back, the motorcycle owner took his motorcycle because he had not received a few days payment.

"As of now, the wife is ready to be discharged, but she has to clear a bill of KSh 255,354. The Social Health Authority (SHA) has paid KSh 77,280, and Kariuki managed to borrow from a few friends and was able to pay KSh 15,000. From the hospital report, they owe the hospital KSh 163,074. My good followers, I am here to request that you kindly support this man at his lowest to discharge the wife from the hospital and reunite with her children and husband," Derrick pleaded.

TUKO.co.ke reached out to Kariuki who was in deep sorrow and distress with two major challenges in front of him.

"I do not know what to do. I have no job, I have no money but the responsibilities are overwhelming. It has been very tough and I just pray that God will open a way. I am stuck," he cried.

His post was emotionally received by social media users who pledged to help the struggling family.

Nairobi man seeks help to foot late wife's hospital bills

In a rather heartbreaking story, a man from Nairobi county sought financial help to foot his wife's hospital bills and bury her.

Anthony Maina could not bury his wife Jane Wacera until he cleared the hospital expenses his wife had left behind.

The body of his wife had been retained at the Kenyatta University (KU) morgue after she died due to septic shock.
