Ong’ondo Were’s Son Painfully Reiterates Dad's Revelation Before Death: "More Will Be Said"

Homa Bay - The family and friends of Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ong’ondo Were, are mourning his tragic death as they prepare to lay him to rest.

Leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, along with locals, gathered at his rural home in Kasipul to offer their condolences to the bereaved family.
Addressing the mourners, the late MP’s son, Boid Were, echoed his father's final words concerning those responsible for his murder.
What did Ong’ondo Were’s son say?
The young man stood before the crowd and thanked Homa Bay Governor, Gladys Wanga, for supporting the family since the unfortunate incident occurred.

He went on to reiterate what his father had said about his suspected killers, assuring the crowd that more details would be shared during the funeral.
“The only thing I want to say is that, before my dad died, he had mentioned those who wanted to kill him. I will not say much right now, but we shall talk more during his burial,” he said.
Boid said this to reiterate what his dad had spoken about at a past event concerning those who wanted him dead.
How did Charles Ong’ondo Were die?
The Kasipul MP passed away on the evening of April 30 after being shot dead near the City Mortuary roundabout along Ngong Road in Nairobi.
His killer, who had reportedly been trailing him from the time he left Parliament Buildings, was riding a motorbike.
At the scene of the crime, the assailant dismounted the motorbike, approached Were’s car, and opened fire.

The killer is said to have fired six shots, hitting the MP in the chest, before fleeing the scene.
His bodyguard and driver, who were present during the incident, rushed him to Nairobi Hospital in an attempt to save his life, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

When is Charles Ong’ondo Were’s burial?
The Parliamentary Funeral Committee has announced the burial date of the slain MP, which is set to take place a week after his tragic death.
The committee, led by Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, stated that Were will be laid to rest on Friday, May 9.
A post-mortem is also scheduled for Monday, May 5, to be conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor at Lee Funeral Home, to provide further details about his death.
Moreover, Kaluma announced that a requiem mass will be held on Wednesday, May 7, in Nairobi before the body is ferried to Homa Bay for the final rites.
Is Ong’ondo’s Were’s first wife in danger?
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that the late Kasipul MP’s first wife, Margaret Were, revealed that her life was in danger, as her husband’s adversaries had also targeted her and other family members.

The widow noted that she had been followed by unknown assailants on two separate occasions while on her way to work.
Appealing to mourners for prayers for her safety and that of her family, she acknowledged the heavy responsibility now before her as the new head of the household following Were’s death.
