When was Mwambu Mabonga informed about daughter's death?
Mwambu said he was informed of his daughter’s death through a phone call at around 5am, despite her reportedly dying at 1am.
“Between 1am and 5am, they had a responsibility to inform me. I asked to know the location of the boyfriend’s house, thinking she had died there, but I was told she died in her own house. I demanded to see the scene, but they asked me to allow them to take the body to the mortuary first — and I accepted,” he said.
The grieving father said he was later allowed into Precious’ one-bedroom house and shown where her lifeless body had been found.
He lamented that the military police had failed him and obstructed his efforts to understand what had truly happened, as he suspected foul play.
Mwambu expressed frustration at how he had been treated despite his social standing, raising concerns about how ordinary citizens might be treated by those in authority.
“I asked myself, if I could be frustrated by military police, what about a common Kenyan? If Precious had been the daughter of an ordinary citizen, I am sure they would have chased the parents away,” he said.

The heartbroken father added that he was forced to cause a scene, claiming that the military was still holding on to his daughter’s belongings, while her house keys remained with her boyfriend’s father, who is also a military officer.
“It pains me, and I am not a coward. I can risk my life for my children. Precious had listed her sister as her next of kin, so I sent her to collect her belongings and keep them somewhere I had instructed,” he said.
Mwambu stated he is not satisfied with the current investigation into his daughter’s death and vowed to pursue justice to ensure any culprits are brought to book.
“As you go back, tell that captain not to tarnish the name of the military. The military is made up of very professional people — aside from those with bad character. I am not afraid. After I bury my daughter, I will pursue this,” said Mwambu.
