A family in Bomet is mourning the brutal killing of Beatrice Chepkemoi, a pregnant mother of two, allegedly at the hands of her husband inside their home.

According to the victim’s brother, Hillary Chirchir, the family was devastated when they stumbled upon Beatrice’s lifeless body, a scene he described as deeply traumatic and unforgettable.

Neighbours reported hearing the anguished cries of the young mother as her husband allegedly unleashed terror on her behind closed doors.

When concerned residents rushed to the scene, they found the house locked from the inside, with the suspect barricaded in with her body.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, fled the scene shortly after the incident but surrendered to police the following day.
Nation reports that Beatrice, born in 1994, tragically lost her life in 2025 in what is believed to be a domestic dispute that escalated.
A postmortem revealed that she suffered multiple broken bones and limbs from the violent assault, confirming the severity of the attack.
Beatrice Chepkemoi family calls for justice
She leaves behind her young children, now orphaned and traumatized by the senseless loss of their mother.
The grieving family has called for swift justice, alleging that the murder was premeditated, not a crime of passion.
“This was not an accident. He knew what he was doing. Our sister and her unborn child deserve justice,” Chirchir said during an emotional address to the press.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is in custody as they await direction from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The case has sparked outrage on social media and renewed calls for greater protection of women and children against domestic violence.

Woman allegedly kills husband, buries him in bedroom
In an unrelated story, grief and sorrow have rocked Kaniga I village after a 43-year-old woman allegedly killed her husband and buried his body in their bedroom.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Sharon Nshemereirwe struck her husband as he slept, then wrapped his body in a blanket, bedsheets, and a tarpaulin.
When police arrived at the residence, they found Nshemereirwe, her husband’s body, a newborn baby, and her nine-year-old daughter.
