National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula led a group of politicians in visiting the family of the late Kasipul MP, Charles Ong'ondo Were, who was shot dead in Nairobi on Wednesday, April 30.

The leaders visited the MP’s Nairobi home to console the grieving family following the tragic incident.

Wetang'ula was joined by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who also serves as the secretary general of the ODM Party.

During the visit, Margaret Were, the elder of the MP’s two wives, welcomed the delegation and expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support from the political fraternity.

Margaret acknowledged the strength the family had drawn from the leaders’ presence.

The widow also expressed concerns about the future of the children left behind, some of whom are still in school or seeking employment.

Where will Ong'ondo Were be buried?

The slain MP will be laid to rest on Friday at his Kachien village home, Kasipul constituency.

Ong'ondo's body, which is at the Lee Funeral home, will be airlifted from Wilson Airport, Nairobi, on the morning of Thursday, May 8, to Kabunde Airstrip in Homabay county.

After landing, the body will be transported to Agoro Sare Primary School in his constituency for his constituents to pay their last respects.

Several politicians, including MPs, senators, and governors, are expected to attend the second-term MP's funeral. The deceased's family asked mourners to maintain peace during Ong'ondo's funeral, calling for speedy investigations to bring the killers of their loved one to book.

Ong'ondo was killed less than four months before his 59th birthday.

In other news, Anne shared a heartbreaking moment during a gathering attended by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, revealing that her late husband had built her a home but tragically passed away before ever spending a night in it.
