The pupils, all reportedly boarders at the elite institution, came into contact with overhead electrical cables near one of the school's boarding houses on the evening of Saturday, May 3.

How 3 Millfield School students were injured

Emergency services, including an air ambulance crew, firefighters, police officers, and a hazardous materials unit, responded swiftly following a distress call at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Somerset Live reports that all three boys sustained severe burns requiring surgery. They are currently in the hospital in stable condition, with their families by their sides.

The identity of the Kenyan student has not been made public, but sources indicate he was attending Millfield on a sports scholarship.

“Three students were involved in an isolated accident on Saturday evening, where they sustained serious injuries from contact with overhead electrical cables," a Millfield School spokesperson said.

They were supported by Millfield staff immediately, and emergency services arrived within minutes.

The authorities confirmed that the three are in a stable condition in the hospital, with their families by their sides.

"There is no ongoing danger to others. The entire Millfield Community’s thoughts and best wishes are with them all. We ask for everyone to respect their privacy and avoid speculation,” the spokesperson shared.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they had been called to the scene and that the incident had been referred to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which will lead the investigation.
