Mwangi had spent the day with his two young children, repaired his Toyota Probox, and later went to meet his friends in the evening.

“We woke up very well that day. I prepared myself and left him repairing his car. That evening, around 6pm, he received an emergency phone call. He came to pick up the car keys in a hurry from where he usually hangs them. He had been asked by a stranger to take a sick person to the hospital,” she recalled.

Wambui grew anxious when Mwangi failed to return home as usual—a routine he had maintained for the past three years.

When did Mwangi's family find out about his death?

Samuel Mwangi's aunt speaks after nephew's death

Esther Wanjiru, Mwangi’s aunt, sat next to Wambui, trying to console her with warm hugs and an understanding of the pain she was enduring.

Wambui looked down, trying to hide her sorrowful face and dry her free-flowing tears after the cruel death of the love of her life.

She had no answers for her children, who cried uncontrollably upon learning that their father would never return home.

“They would have rather held him captive, called, and asked for money if that’s what they wanted. We kept asking ourselves—why would they do this?” Wanjiru asked, wrapping her arm around the emotional Wambui.

Kenyans comfort Samuel Mwangi's wife

Samuel Mwangu disappeared a couple of weeks ago, after receiving a late-night call. He was called and asked to ferry a client to the hospital.

He prepared and left hurriedly, bidding farewell to his wife and kids. Sadly, that was the last time he was seen alive.

The family began a frantic search for him, which culminated in the grim discovery of his body a few days ago.

Kenyans have sent condolence messages to his wife, with many hoping that investigators will nail the killers.

Here are some of the comments:

Lyne Ashioyah said:

"It is painful, I am also a widow of two young children because of the cruel hands of people who took the life of my husband."

Evans Hewa said:

"Making such a lady a widow at her age and rendering children fatherless at their tender age for your selfishness is so wrong. May the Lord comfort the family, especially his parent,s wi,fe and children."
