Kisumu — A wave of hope has swept across Upper Kadiang’a after Jonathan Okoth Opande, popularly known as Mullah, came to the rescue of a bright student whose education had come to a halt due to financial constraints.

Balola Onyango Okongo, a top performer from West Nyakach Ward who scored 381 marks in the 2021 KCPE and earned a spot at the prestigious Kanga High School.

However, Balola's aunt, Domoline Adhiambo, told TUKO.co.ke that the teen had been forced to stay at home after falling behind on school fees.

His story captured public attention, highlighting the struggles many bright students face in pursuing their dreams.
Today, the aspiring member of parliament reached out to Balola and his family with life-changing news, putting a smile on their faces.
"He promised to settle the full fee arrears of KSh 182,000, allowing the young scholar to return to class without worry," she explained.

Mullah expressed his commitment to supporting the youngster's education through his Masomo Mashinani Foundation.
Apart from clearing Balola’s fees, the hopeful legislator committed to walking the journey with him and many others who need support.
Balola’s parents, overwhelmed with emotion, thanked the well-wisher for the timely intervention, adding that they can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing their son’s future is back on track.
