A video clip of veteran Kikuyu musician Peter Kigia's wife making a passionate prayer to God, as her son's body was being lowered to the ground, has moved many people.

Where does Peter Kigia come from?

Kigia is a native of Gatanga in Murang'a county, and he is well known for belting out beautiful Benga music over many years. During that time, Kigia has remained active and influential in the Kikuyu entertainment world.

The Reke Tumanwo (Let's break up), Gacheri, Njeri Gaitu (Our Njeri), hitmaker was a close friend of legend John De'Mathew, who also made Benga music before his death.

What happened to Kigia's son?

Kigia's son, Ken Kirehu, went missing on March 18, 2025, and was discovered dead in Gatanga, around the Kigio area.

The news was broken on Facebook by the grieving father, who questioned why anyone would hurt his son.

He also expressed pain, prompting fellow artistes and fans to console him, especially since they recalled that he lost his daughter a few years ago.

During the burial service, Kigia's wife was captured in a Chuma Moto YouTube video, and she was overwhelmed.

"Lord do not ever let me pass through this kind of pain again," said Kigia's wife.
