Kenyans sympathise with Gatundu man

It was a heartbreaking scene, captured in two video clips that went viral on social media. Netizens reacted in the comments, sharing their mixed emotions.

Jorintah Juditah:

"Oh, no. Surely!!! How will he heal? Doctors and nurses... You can do better. This hurts to the core."

Wanja Mwaura:

"The pain... too much to bear. Huyo soldier akae mbali. What was he trying to do? A father has just lost a child and you're there trying to 'tame' the situation? I weep for my country, Kenya. A child had to die due to lack of treatment? Probably it was an avoidable death if only the child had received treatment. Our health sector is seriously deteriorating. May God remember His people. Because where we are now, it's every man for himself and God for us all."

Reacting to this incident, Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi's administration announced that all the striking doctors have been fired.

The County Executive Health Member for Health said the doctors who did not report to work had abdicated their duties, hence the sacking.

"Anyone who has not reported to work has been fired. We are replacing them with another equally qualified doctor to ensure there is smooth flow of health care provision in all our facilities," he told Citizen TV.
