Ruth Rurie: Sorrow as Deputy Principal Dies Days after Receiving Promotion
- Madam Ruth Rurie was not just a beloved teacher at Kiamutuira Secondary School in Kirinyaga county; the community loved her as well
- According to local businessman and politician Mwaniki MCA Mtarajiwa Mukure, the middle-aged woman had an accident and broke her leg

Kirinyaga: Family and friends of Madam Ruth Rurie have been thrown into mourning, following the death of the beloved former deputy principal shortly after her promotion to principal.

What happened to Madam Ruth Rurie?
According to Mwaniki MCA Mtarajiwa Mukure, Rurie was a great customer at his digital shop in Baricho, and she died suddenly after having a minor fracture and being bedridden.

"Ruth Rurie was my best friend; I really feel hurt. Ruth was a great customer at Rhomwa Digital Baricho, my student at some academic level and a friend of friends. A true friend and a member of ACK, Thiguku Kianjang'a," he said.

Where was Madam Rurie hurt?
Mwaniki shared that he was the one who filled out an online sick leave form for her at his workplace after she had nasty fall on the stairs and sustained a fracture of her left fibula.
"She went to her daughter's place, and has been okay, until yesterday, when she slept and never woke up. Ruth, have gone? Only God knows. Our bond and your ever cheerful heart will remain in our hearts and memories. R. I. P," he said.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Mwaniki said that Ruire's death shocked many people and the most devastated ones were her two children, Martha and Sharon.
"Maryanne was left in shock, and other than being a close friend, she will truly be remembered as a good mother. Another one was called Wangui passed on fives years ago because of a fatal accident," said the ICT consultant, who also doubles up as a teacher.
"Our Friend, Mrs Ruth Ruirie - Wachira, alongside her late husband, Mr Wachira (Mrefu) taught at Baricho High School. Wachira, who taught physics, was an astute basketball coach and disciplinarian who used his acumen and charisma to connect with us amicably, while Mrs Wachira taught us Biology and Agriculture," said Mwaniki,
Which schools did Ruire teach?
Madam Ruth had been promoted to the position of principal, in a recently conducted interview, while deputising at Kiamutuira Secondary School in Kirinyaga Central Sub-County
Before taking up her new position, she taught at Baricho High School, Karucho, Kiamutuira among other schools.
According to a close friend who wished to remain anonymous, they shared a lot on a phone call, the night before Ruire's death; the call lasted for an hour or so minutes.
Eng Francis Murimi Yellow man, an aspiring member of Parliament in Ndia, also eulogised Ruth as a mentor and a woman who understood the Bible.
"She was a leader and an advocate of truth and justice," he said.
Mwaniki added that the teacher was a cool career teacher who always wore a characteristic smile that made her a mother figure to students.
"It's sad that the sting of death that hit her family didn't spare her, considering the demise of her husband, then her daughter after an accident,"said Mwaniki.
Mwaniki requested the clergy, including all churches in Kirinyaga county, to come in and convene prayers especially in lower Mukure Ward, where many cases of death have been reported in the recent past, including of popular man Joakim Gicheru, Mwalimu Tosha Gichira Kiboko and Mary, mother of Muriithi Shop among many others.

Tulwet secondary mourns principal
Elsewhere, family and friends of the late Peter Muchina were heartbroken after learning that the Tulwet Secondary School principal had suddenly died.
According to reports, Muchina woke up well and left for a workshop in Nakuru, and while there, he developed complications and later died.
