“I had previously found my husband with another woman in our bed. When I caught them, the woman fled while my husband casually took his time putting on his clothes. I didn't raise my voice at him, but I confronted him meekly. It was a tense moment.
That evening, he said he was stepping out. He asked me to give him a machete and a jerrican for paraffin. I thought he had left the compound. Unbeknownst to me, he was hiding behind the house. He entered the house around 11 p.m. when I was asleep with the kids. He shone a torch on me. I asked who it was, and he replied that he was my husband. After a brief confrontation, he began attacking me with the sharp object. He cut my face, head, stomach, and leg,” she recounted.
Neighbours rushed to the scene, awakened by her desperate cries for help in her defenseless and hopeless state.
Which hospital was Kathure taken?
She was bleeding profusely when they picked her up and rushed her to the hospital to receive emergency medical attention.
“They first took me to the hospital in Maua, but when the doctors saw that I was unresponsive, they transferred me to Meru Level 5 Hospital. There, they immediately took me to the morgue, where I stayed for three days before I was rescued on the fourth day.

My parents had already been notified to come and take my children because I had been pronounced dead. However, they wanted to come to the hospital to confirm the news,” she narrated.
Rosanna claimed that they had even inserted cotton wool in her body, believing she was lifeless.
Rosanna's name written on her forehead
Her name and her father’s name had been written on her forehead as she lay in the cold room among the dead.
“There was a woman—a Kikuyu lady from Nanyuki—who had come to collect her daughter’s body. When she removed the body, she saw me underneath, and noticed that my heart was still beating. She realised someone was alive in the morgue. She said if they left me there, people outside might ensure I was finished off because they wanted money.
She and others went to inform the doctor, who, though skeptical, came and confirmed I was indeed alive. They removed me from the morgue and took me to the ward to begin treatment,” she said.
