Katrina Forrest shared her personal story of becoming pregnant with her daughter, Kamiya Johnson, at a very young age, which led to her dropping out of school.
She honoured Kamiya, noting that she had turned out well and managed to graduate alongside her peers, something Katrina herself had not been able to do.
When did Katrina Forrest have her daughter?
“I got pregnant at 14 and had Kamiya at 15, a Year 10 student in secondary school. Still a child, with no clue how to raise a child while barely raising myself. I got my first job after having her, at Chuck E. Cheese, to make sure I could take care of her and myself,” she said.

While juggling work and caring for young Kamiya, Katrina dropped out of school twice before eventually returning and graduating in 2012.
She acknowledged the stress and challenges of being a teenage mother and expressed gratitude to her aunt for offering a helping hand.
“Kamiya has been through everything with me. Everyone who had a problem with me always said she’d turn out just like me, a teen mum, this and that but my baby beat the odds. She’s better than me because she’s graduating on time with her class, something I didn’t get to do,” she said.
Katrina noted that her daughter had completed her secondary education and was now ready to move on to bigger things and pursue her dreams and goals.
“I’m one proud mama because we did it (I did it), we beat the odds! My baby came out on top despite everything we’ve been through,” she stated.

Tiffany Paniagua Magaña:
“Okay, but who’s the mum and who’s the child? You both look beautiful, what a story! Praying that God guides and blesses you both tenfold. Well done, mama!”
Brandi Barrett:
“As a teen mum, I heard all those same things from so many people. And here we are, my baby graduated a year early, as a junior. Congratulations to you and your daughter.”
