Photographer Evans Kiplagat Moi, who captured the viral moment, told TUKO.co.ke that the photo caught the attention of the clergyman.

Moved by the boy’s determination and the family's dire living conditions, Fr Alloyce reached out to Evans and close friend Fiona Chebet with a mission to support the boy and his struggling family.

“I remember when Father called me,” said Fiona Chebet. “He asked if we could visit Titus’s home and see how best we could support him. I told him I’d reach out to friends. Together, we went to see the family.”

What they found was heartbreaking. The place they were staying was uninhabitable, which broke Father Alloyce's heart.

Right there, he made a promise to build a decent house for the family by the end of August, and plans were already underway.

Father Alloyce had envisioned a fully equipped, safe, and comfortable home for Titus and his family, one that would allow the young boy to pursue his dreams with dignity.

But that dream was tragically cut short when Father Alloyce was brutally murdered by unknown bandits in Kerio Valley during a mission of peace and outreach.

His untimely death has left a gaping hole in the hearts of many, but especially in the life of young Titus.

Death shattered house dream

Fiona and Evans are calling on leaders to help fulfil Father Alloyce’s dream by helping to build the house for Titus’s family.

“Let us honour the legacy of Father Alloyce by completing the mission he died trying to accomplish,” Fiona added.

The late Father Bett will be remembered by many for his unwavering dedication to the community.

But for one little boy from Chepsiret, he was more than a priest; he was a guardian angel.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Father Allois Bett was shot dead in Nandi on Thursday, May 22, during a religious mission.

Residents suspect he was targeted for allegedly collaborating with DCI officers in an anti-banditry operation.
