Taking to social media, she lamented that she had lost six domestic workers in less than a year, questioning what the problem might be.
“My son is only nine months old, and so far, I have had six househelps. One is leaving now as I write. Is this normal, or am I the problem?” she said.
She shared that she pays and treats them well, which is why she cannot understand why they are leaving at such a high rate and within such a short period.

Kenyans react to having many houshelps in short span
Others reassured the mum that it’s not unusual to go through several domestic workers before finding the right fit.
Charles Peter:
“The moment you realise these house managers are human beings, and you leave them with your treasure, I mean your child is when you will treat them like the princesses they are.”
Jemimmah Mutheu:
“Aiii, huyu ako na shida. She's the problem. Treat house girls as your own sisters, love them. Don’t act like ‘this is just my worker’. Treat her as part of the family. Give her peace. After outlining her duties, give her space, free time, and freedom in your home. I bet she’ll be the best. Mine has been with me for 9 years. She’s a single mother of two, and to be honest, I’ve never argued with her. If I feel something’s not right, I approach her in a polite and respectful manner.”
Wanjiru Wa Mbau:
“It’s very normal. Then, the day you get one who wants to stay, she’ll stay for years.”
Lillian Mugoh:
“Wueeh, not me reading this while my domestic manager took a day off yesterday to handle personal stuff, said she’d return today, and hasn’t shown up! I treat her like my sister and pay her well.”
Flo Ndathe:
“She is an employee, just like you, and there’s a job description, qualifications, preferences, and boundaries. Hire and fire until you find the right one. Also, normalise praying for your employees you will see wonders. My 30 years of experience have taught me that.”
