Netizens Raise KSh 770k for Kenyan Woman Unable to Pay Tuition, Fees Facing Eviction in UK

Apart from facing eviction, the 24-year-old from Kingston Upon Thames was also unable to pay her university tuition fees, so she turned to the internet for help.

“Due to financial challenges that have built up over the past few months, I’m now facing eviction from my home and I’m also unable to pay my outstanding tuition fees,” said Jayne on the GoFundMe page.

“I’ve done everything I can — applying for jobs, trying different hustles, even considering things I never thought I would — but nothing has worked,” she added.

How much does Beverly need in total?

According to Jayne, she needs to raise KSh 1.2 million by Monday, June 16, to cover her rent, arrears, and school fees.

“Without this, I risk losing both my home and my education. I’m deeply embarrassed to be in this position, but this is my last option. I’m sharing this in the hope that anyone reading might be able to help, whether by donating or even just sharing this page,” she explained.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Jayne said tehre was a massive respoense from people after she posted on the GoFundMe page.

"Things are now better, I will come back and thank the public, they have really helped me," she said.

Nyako shares she is struggling in Germany

In another story, content creator Nyako shared her pitiful living conditions in Germany after returning to TikTok. She had taken a short break from the popular platform.

Previously, Nyako revealed that a fellow Kenyan had wanted her to be evicted from a house owned by the German government.

The TikToker later pleaded for help to pay rent, but her appeal did not sit well with many Kenyans.

Other students seeking university fees

  • A 20-year-old amputee from Machakos sought help to raise college tuition. Brian Mbithi had secured admission to Skyworld Aviation College, where he hoped to study Travel and Tourism Management, but was unable to join due to financial challenges.
  • Babu Owino’s heart was touched by a parent who asked him to intervene on the issue of high university fees. The parent shared his son’s fee structure and the amount required for both semesters.
