Who led goons in Nairobi CBD?
On that day, goons on foot and motorbikes were unleashed on unsuspecting protesters, and they beat, harassed and robbed them blind before leaving some for dead.
Swaleh Sonko, one of the alleged goon leaders, later shared a video of how they had prepared to harass the protesters. In the video, the goons are seen fuelling motorbikes, patrolling the city, and making both veiled and open threats to Kenyans.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Dickson Imbusi shared that he received a call and was told to go and pick up his son, as he was in bad shape.
"It emerged that young Neville Saisi was walking along the Lantana Road, off Raphta Road in Westlands when he encountered goons that had just come from the protests. They beat and hurt him very badly," said Imbusi, Neville's dad.
"If they show the CCTV footage, then we can know who beat him up so that my son can eventually get justice. We are crying for justice as he was just innocently walking home to Ngara and they accosted him," said the grieving dad.
How did Dickson know of Neville's condition?
Dickson was called to go to the scene where his son had been beaten, and they rushed him to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), but he sadly didn't make it.
Neville was a 19-year-old young man who sat for his Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2024.
"I have been out of work for some time and I just ride a motorcycle (boda boda) to make a living," said Dickson.
"I am appealing to Kenyans of goodwill for help to bury my son in Kapsabet on July 5," he added.
The family came up with a budget of KSh 350,000 for Neville's sendoff. They are, however, stranded and cannot raise the amount, and are now calling upon members of the public to help them.

Goons' leader asks for forgiveness
Only a few days ago, Swaleh went on his knees and asked for forgiveness from those he had hurt.
Prior to the protests, Swaleh had told off Kenyans who wanted justice for Ojwang and swore to deal with anyone who hurt his team of goons.
In his village, Swaleh went on his knees and begged Gen Zs to forgive him. He promised to accompany them on June 25 for their demos.
