Where was Shaquille killed?
Speaking on Citizen TV, Obienge said that he could see smoke billowing around their home and decided to call Shaquille, but he didn't pick up.
"So I stayed there looking at the unfolding events, Eastmatt was a no-go zone; around 4pm, I learnt that the first casualty had been shot dead and I looked at the photo, in the video. At that moment, I heard my son's voice shouting you have killed, Ruto whats is this?" he narrated.

"I was worried, but the assurance was that I heard his voice, which meant he was still alive. At around 6 pm or 7 pm, somebody called my phone and said there is a boy who has been shot dead, and as he was being carried away, the phone fell from his pocket and the last number he called was yours," said the grieving dad.

How did Obienge find Shaquille?
Obienge rushed to watch the news, and the only person reported dead was the man he had earlier seen. So, he gathered strength to go to the Eastmatt stage, but when he got downstairs, the police told him that no one was outside in the middle of the night, so he should return home.
In the morning, he called his cousin Lule Okoth and asked to be taken to Saitoti Mortuary, but they said that they don't allow accident victims or those who had been shot, so he went to the City Mortuary.
"When the body was brought, it was drenched in blood; we couldn't see it well, and I had to rub the blood from his eyes and was convinced it was him. The next thing is that he had a big navel," recalled the grieving father.
How does George plan to commemorate son's death?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, George revealed that he plans to hold his son's memorial at their rural home on August 2.
"I want to build a mausoleum for him and its cost is KSh 45,000. The pastors also need drinks and some food to eat while praying over it and the total cost is KSh 20,000. I'm asking for help to raise it," he said.

Shaquille's father provides new details on son's death
Shaquille's father also provided a possible motive for his son's death after claiming that he was killed because he identified an alleged killer cop.
He described his son as an introvert who loved reading about history and government, and he also believes that Shaquille died as a hero.
The grieving father said his son's only mistake was identifying a cop who had allegedly killed another Gen-Z from Kitengela.
"He was not carrying any stone, but that officer from the videos could be seen still chasing down Shaquille, and one of the reasons I think Shaquille was exterminated is because he identified the person who killed Charles Owino,” Obienge said.
Rex Maasai's dad sends Gen Z message
In another story, Kenyans were expected to hold demonstrations and peacefully honour those who died during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 demos, so Rex Maasai's father had a message for them.
Chrispine Odawa, who was devastated when his son died last year, shared an emotional message to support Gen Zs ahead of the planned protests.
He recounted the loss of his son, who was shot in Nairobi’s CBD, and it moved many people.
Racheal Nyaguthie, HoD Human Interest, added details of Shaquille's father providing new details.
