"I had a friend who had introduced me to Hassan some time back. The friend told me they had 'tried' Hassan and got good returns because of his powers. I had also seen Hassan's adverts, so I decided to give him a call," she said.

Her lover was the one sending Hassan the money, which he did bit by bit until the total amount was finalised.

"My man started demanding money from the witch doctor, who claimed he was going to multiply it. As we continued to question him, he went silent. He started avoiding my calls and messages. He wasn’t responding at all, no matter how hard I tried. The blame shifted to me because I was the one who introduced my lover to him," she said tearfully.
Arunga, whose children are in Kenya, shared WhatsApp messages showing her desperate pleas to Hassan to return the money, but he never responded.

The financial strain eventually caused her relationship to collapse, and she was forced to move out of their house.
"I left with just a few belongings. I was badly affected financially because all my customers abandoned me. He closed the container shop for spare parts, and even though I still tried doing marketing, he couldn’t pay me. He took all the client contracts and contacts. Now I use a boda boda to move around. I buy spare parts for another shop here in Juba town, then deliver them to another estate to survive.
