Yuri reacts to boarding plane
The boda boda operator, abandoned by his wife and left to raise his young son alone, has now boarded his first flight.
The father of one could not hide his joy at the news that he would be flying for the first time in his life.
“I am so happy and very ready. I can only say this is God. Thank you to all Kenyans who supported me and made this possible. I am truly grateful,” he told Apostle Dan Wema.
Yuri opens up on challenging life
Yuri went viral after his touching story trended online, sparking sympathy from many netizens.
He had been working as a boda boda rider using a motorbike he had acquired on loan, carrying his son in his jacket during shifts.
“My wife left me because of poverty. She left me with my son. I didn’t have anyone to leave him with, so I did my shifts with him in my jacket. I was struggling—no food, no decent home, no stable income,” he painfully told TUKO.co.ke.
Moved by his story, well-wishers came together through Apostle Dan Wema to help Yuri. They contributed towards building him a house and buying him a brand-new motorbike.

Yuri was overjoyed by the overwhelming love shown by Kenyans who elevated his life in the blink of an eye.
“Another well-wisher sponsored my flight to Nairobi where I’ll be visiting a radio station to share my testimony. I’ve never boarded a plane before. I’m not scared—I won’t scream,” he said happily.
He looked comfortable after taking his seat in the aircraft, smiling as he posed for a photo.
Yuri looked sharp in a blue suit and white shirt as he enjoyed his peaceful evening flight.
