She took away their youngest child, now eight years old, and left behind their two teenage children, a second-year university student aged 19 and a 16-year-old Form Two high schooler.

Now raising his two older children alone, the father made what he believed was the right and respectful step: he opened up to them about his plans to remarry.

Their response, however, left him in deep thought, and they were both strongly opposed to him marrying again.
“On Father’s Day, my daughter and son sent me a joint message saying that I’m all they have and politely asked me not to bring another woman into our lives,” he said.
Their message, he said, moved him deeply and changed his perspective, forcing him to respect their decision, live alone, and see them through their education.
The candid confession has sparked a wave of reactions from fellow parents navigating singlehood, co-parenting, and the delicate question of starting afresh.
“I would like to know if there are parents here in the same situation. Parents with children who asked them not to remarry, how did you navigate it?”
