Nairobi: The family of Boniface Kariuki has shared that they have been slapped with a KSh 3.6 million bill by the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and are now seeking help to raise it.

Kariuki was shot by the police during protests to decry the death of blogger Albert Ojwang and had several surgeries as part of his treatment. He has been on life support machines since then.
Initially, Kariuki was declared brain dead, with medics at KNH confirming there was no chance of recovery.

According to medical practitioner Dornboss Mbohi, only machines kept the young man alive, complicating both emotional and legal decisions for the family.

Why did Boniface Kariuki's family tell off Charles Owino?
"The government is now silent, we want to hear from them. since Bonny has left, what is in for us, who is paying for the bill? Who is our voice, we want to hear from the government, why are they silent?" asked the family spokesman Wanjira.
She also told off former police spokesman Charles Owino for his remarks that painted Kariuki in a bad light.
