Fortune Gomo's dreams stolen

However, that will never happen as Fortune’s dream has been violently and senselessly stolen by the attacker.

“A child will now grow up without the love and presence of a mother. A family will mourn a daughter who once lit up their home with hope and promise,” the former classmate added.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. As the community mourns, many are calling for justice and renewed efforts to address violence.

Moving tributes for Doctor Fortune Gomo

A report by Sky News indicated the emotional tributes that Gomo's family and friends penned after learning about her death.

Professor Simon Parsons, Director of Environment Planning and Assurance at Scottish Water, mourned the PhD holder as a valuable member of their team.

Professor Simon Parsons said that Fortune had been an outstanding scientist and a senior service planner in the water resources planning team based in Dundee.

He noted that although she had only joined Scottish Water in February, she had quickly earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

He added that the organisation was providing support to her team members in the wake of the tragedy.

On her part, Angela Machonesa, who studied with Fortune in Zimbabwe, wrote a moving message on Facebook while mourning her slain classmate.

"I knew Fortune. We were schoolmates at #ChinhoyiHighSchool and proceeded to #NationalUniversityofScienceandTechnology, young dreamers in uniforms, navigating adolescence, the weight of our futures quietly resting on our shoulders. We stood side by side in the prefects’ line, bearing responsibility before many of our age ever would. Even then, you could tell #Fortune glowed differently. She had this calm, poised maturity that set her apart," she said in her lengthy tribute.
