Ngong Man Shot in Saba Saba Demos Recently Got Married, Leaves Behind Pregnant Wife

On Monday, July 7, a section of Kenyans took to the streets to commemorate Saba Saba. The day is celebrated annually on July 7 to mark the 1990 protests that called for political reforms and an end to human rights abuses.

Just like the Monday demos, there were arrests, and people died. In some quarters, the police also got hurt by the projectiles being thrown by young people, while they also killed people.

In a video shared on X by journalist Henix Obuchungu, the young man is seen inside the mosque, celebrating his big day.

Mburu was sadly gunned down during the chaos that erupted in Ngong during Saba Saba.

In the morning, things were calm, but by midday, things had escalated in Ngong and Kiserian, with the police engaging in running battles with Kenyans.

"The young man in this video was shot dead today in Embul Bul, Ngong. He had only recently gotten married, and now his pregnant wife is left behind to face this painful loss," said Obuchungu.

Woman living in Ngong pens heartfelt message amidst protests

A Kenyan woman who lives in Ngong penned a moving message on social media as the region degenerated into chaos amidst the protests on Saba Saba Day.

Judie Cheruiyot revealed she has called Ngong her home for 16 years, and was saddened to see it reduced to a battleground for police officers and protesters who spent the day engaging in running battles.

"Today, my heart is heavy. I’ve walked these roads, greeted neighbours, raised my child here… but today, there’s fear in the air, chaos in the streets, and the sound of gunshots where there used to be laughter," she wrote on Facebook.

Judie disclosed witnessing bodies lying on the ground and many injured during the melee on Monday.

"I’ve seen bodies on the road. Real people. Real lives. It’s haunting. This isn’t politics anymore. This is pain," she added.

She urged her community members to stay safe and take care of each other amidst the political uprising.

"To everyone out there, stay safe. Check on someone. To those we’ve lost, may your names never fade into silence. And to my beloved town, May peace find you again," she added.

What was expected to be a calm day in Nairobi became chaotic later on, with anti-riot police clashing with protesters.

A section of Kenyans sent Charlene to President William Ruto with heartfelt messages. They had hoped that he would address their grievances.

In other news, there were shocking scenes during the Saba Saba protests of 2025, as goons stormed the Kitengela Sub-County Hospital and started terrorising people.'

Violent demonstrators stormed the hospital and forced terrified staff and patients to flee. Videos circulating online showed protesters chasing healthcare workers as well as assaulting the sick.

Kenyans from all walks of life roundly condemned the goons and the incident; they called for hospitals to be declared protected zones during civil unrest.
