The family of a young girl who was killed during the Saba Saba protests on Monday, July 7, is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of their kin.

Bridget Njoki was killed by a stray bullet while watching television at home in Ndumberi, Kiambu county.
The girl was shot dead by anti-riot police officers who were attempting to maintain calm in the area but ended up taking an innocent life.

Hours after her death, the family received the postmortem results, which the mother could hardly bear.
"A post-mortem examination has tragically confirmed that 12-year-old Bridget Njoki died from a bullet wound, with the fatal projectile now recovered and handed over to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for further investigation," read a Facebook post from TV47 Kenya.
Following the release of the autopsy report, the young girl's mother, Lucy Ngugi, could not hold back her emotions and broke down in tears.
She was inconsolable and appeared too weak to stand; a chair had to be brought for her to sit and rest as the family prepared to address the press.

In a separate incident, the mother of a five-year-old who was pushed by her uncle in Kahawa West, Kiambu county, painfully spoke during her daughter’s burial.
The little girl was laid to rest at her village home in Kitui county in a ceremony attended by friends and family.
Her mother, Ann Syovinya, broke her silence for the first time since losing her daughter in the heartbreaking incident.
She could not hold back her tears as she eulogised her lastborn, recounting the fond memories they shared.
