Titus Onyango is searching for his father, Peter Amina, who went missing on July 16, 2024, during the Gen Z protests.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Onyango recounted receiving troubling news about his father's disappearance.
"I was working when I received a phone call from one of my sisters. She told me Dad had not arrived home. It was around 7 p.m. They said he was last seen heading toward town and asked if he had come to my place or if I had met him. It was news to me. I had no idea anything had happened. He had left home around 2 p.m.," he said.

Onyango shared that his father, who previously worked at Telkom until he was retrenched in 2007, had been suffering from an underlying medical condition.
He had developed memory loss, a condition that had worsened in the weeks before his disappearance.
"He would sometimes leave home and return later at night, or we would have to go out and find him. His memory loss started when he was in Siaya, our rural home. He had been there for some time after he was retrenched and would make regular visits to Kakamega.
One of the reasons we had to bring him from the village was because we noticed some changes. He would take time to respond to questions or conversations. Sometimes he’d just smile or answer after a while. We believe something must have happened to trigger this."
What did Amina leave with from home?
When the father of five left home, he had a photocopy of his ID and a small purse containing a piece of paper with some phone numbers.

Witnesses said he looked like he was heading toward the town center.
"It has been very hard for me and the entire family. I even lost my job because I spent so much time searching for him. Even now, I’m still looking. It worries me deeply not knowing whether he’s alive or dead.
We can't trace him as he didn’t have a phone on him due to his condition, he couldn’t operate one. I can't live a normal life because of the stress of not knowing his whereabouts or wellbeing. It would have been easier to know he was dead and buried than to live in this uncertainty. We reported the matter to the police, but there have been no leads,” he said.
