Irene was delighted to be reunited with her son, Lovine, who had allegedly run away from home because they did not have a television.
Lovine had been living on the streets and was found by Nairobi county chief officer for environment, Geoffrey Mosiria.

"Today, I have finally reunited this young street boy with his mother. After all the suffering he had gone through on the streets, he agreed to return home. Most of these children don’t choose to live on the streets. Some run away thinking life on the streets will be better than what they have at home, only to realise it's much tougher. Others escape due to absentee parents, poor parental care, or because they are orphans," Mosiria shared.
Irene met Mosiria at his office, where she explained how Lovine had disappeared from home and ended up on the streets.
She said her son was being sponsored for education, but had also complained about school.
Mosiria lets streetboy sit on his chair
"I talked to his teacher about it, but we never really understood the root of the problem. One thing, though, is that if he asks for something and you don’t give it to him, he runs away. It’s not the first time he has disappeared from home.
He has always been asking me to buy a television, but I am financially incapacitated. That was the latest reason he ran away because we don’t have a television, and he loves to watch cartoons," she said.
Mosiria advised Lovine on the importance of education and hard work, reminding him of the harsh conditions he had been rescued from.
He even allowed Lovine to sit in his executive officer’s chair to give him a taste of the good life and inspire him.
Mosiria's advice to Lovine
"One day, you will sit here like me. Don’t you want to be a boss like me? If you do, you have to go back to school. Or would you rather I take you to jail for abusing harmful substances?" Mosiria asked the scared boy.
As Irene left with her son, she hugged him tightly and reaffirmed her love for him, while Mosiria bid them farewell.

She gently explained to Lovine that she couldn’t afford a television or the life he desired due to her limited earnings from menial jobs.
"You know I love you, and if I had the money, I would buy you anything you wanted, right? But we don’t have much right now," she told him.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, psychologist Njeri Ndaru raised an alarm in the mannerism of Lorine.
"From how he was behaving when he was talking with his mum on phone to how he was looking at her when he reunited with her, clearly something was wrong. It was so evident. Even some netizens pointed it out. The boy needs counselling, he needs to open up. He looked scared which at such a tender age for a child to fear the person who should be his safe haven, surely raises an alarm," she said.
