The couple had returned to Kyeyo after living in Zurich, Switzerland, for 30 years, but before David Mutaaga and Deborah Mutaaga-Nabeeta could enjoy staying at home, they were murdered.

Both of them were found in pools of blood, and according to preliminary reports by the area police, the two were stabbed at around 9pm on Sunday, July 6. David’s body was found at the gate, while Deborah’s body was in the bathroom.

Did anyone hear the Mutaagas being attacked?

Reportedly, his wife reached out to some people by phone about the attack while she was still alive after sustaining wounds. She informed them about the ongoing attack, and that was probably when David was chasing to get hold of the attacker.

Initially, there was no indication of forced entry at the crime scene (the home has a perimeter wall and security cameras), and there was no tampering at all; the gate is remotely controlled.

As reported by Din Hillary Manya on Facebook, the couple had graciously hosted guests at their sprawling mansion before they died.

"Earlier in the day, that is how the house was. In Kitenge clothing are the late David Mutaaga and his wife Deborah Mutaaga -Nabeeta, Can you imagine living 30 years away from your country and die in days in your country?" posed Manya.
