However, her condition deteriorated after six months, forcing her to stay in bed. By October 2023, doctors informed her that her heart was also failing.

On July 9, Madifo visited Marsabit Hospital, where a specialist confirmed her heart had significantly swollen.

Doctors referred her to a cardiologist for further care, recommending an urgent series of four different blood tests and an echocardiogram to determine the extent of damage.

When did Moyale woman become widow?

However, the estimated cost of KSh 50,000 for tests alone forced her to return home to Moyale without treatment.

Madifo’s life has been marred by tragedy and hardship. She lost her husband while she was three months pregnant with their daughter, leaving her to raise the children alone.

She has no known family support, except for her elderly and impoverished mother, who is unable to assist.

A well-wisher has offered her a place to stay and helps provide food for Siyama and her children.
