The officer’s candid apology struck a chord with many Kenyans online and sparked mixed reactions.
Why was cop Kimathi unhappy with transfer?
On June 9, 2025, Kimathi was handed a letter that said he had been transferred from his current base in Kyubi Police Station in Machakos county to Todonyang Police Station.
"You will proceed from Kyubi Police Station to Todonyang Police Station. Upon arrival, report to the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) for further instructions," read a part of the letter.
Taking to his TikTok platform, Kimathi said that he was grateful that this transfer had come at the right time.
"Why do you have to give me a transfer on malice? If it was a general transfer, why did you not transfer at least 20 police officers at least to conceal that this was a normal transfer," he said.
"This transfer came through the instructions of a higher office, Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Eliud Lagat. When they issued me with the transfer, they realised that they have done something wrong and begged me to go back to the Machakos station," alleged Kimathi.

What's Kimathi's message to Murkomen?
Kimathi refused, saying that he had already booked a departure and signed the marching orders.
"So I want to address the following persons, OCPD Athi River, Lagat and Murkomen; I want you to know I that I am aware of everything that is planned in the darkness. There are people who came out of that meeting to tell me what you were planning," alleged Kimathi.
"Why should you take my life for standing for the truth? I don't have a rank or a godfather, I just come from a humble background.Take the position Kimathi was holding and give it to your son to go to Todonyang," he said.
What was officer Sammy Ondimu's reaction?
Social media can make you a hero — but it can also cost you your job.
Philanthropic cop Sammy Ondimu Nagre told TUKO.co.ke that the has seen cases where police officers post negative comments about their bosses or the service itself, forgetting there’s a code of conduct in place.
"As a police officer, you swore to serve and protect, guided by command structures like the SSO. Unlike in some other professions where one can openly challenge a supervisor, in policing, going against your superior’s command has serious consequences," he said.
"It could lead to dismissal, demotion, or transfer. Before you post in frustration or anger, remember the oath you took and the structure you serve under. Someone canh as well choose to resign and do politics..but kubishana na wakubwa wako is a No..Be wise. Serve with discipline," he added.
