Lutamu Kassim, the boy’s father, shared that his son 'passed away' 10 years ago when he was just one year and four months old.
“He was born in 2014. Afterwards, tragedy struck when he fell ill while he and his mother were visiting one of our relatives around November the following year, and he sadly passed away,” he shared.
What happened to Meshack Kassim?
According to Lutamu, Meshack became ill a day after they arrived at the relative’s place. He added that his wife returned home with the lifeless body of their son.

He confirmed that they buried the child and moved on with life until recently, when the boy suddenly showed up.
He mentioned that Meshack had been anaemic, but they had been managing the condition before his supposed death.
The overjoyed father, who has since lost his eyesight, narrated that the boy appeared at their homestead unexpectedly.
“He followed one of our workers to the pit latrine. The young boy wasn’t speaking, even after the man asked him to use the latrine. Instead, he went and sat beneath a tree in our compound,” said Lutamu.
According to him, the worker alerted Meshack’s mother, who, upon seeing him, immediately recognised him and began screaming while shedding tears of joy.
“Since I can't see, I asked my wife if she was sure he was our son, and she affirmed it. Everyone who knew him as a child has said it’s him. I can’t see, so I believe them,” he said.

Netizens express mixed reactions to Meshack’s return
Shadia:
“God grant him good health, God has brought him back, God is good.”
Nasimbu Montana:
“I urge our government to believe in these supernatural matters. That’s why we go to mosques and churches, to places of worship. This should be investigated properly; this is not a movie. Witchcraft is real, and such strange occurrences continue to happen. Parliament should sit and discuss this matter just a thought, don’t judge me harshly.”
Mohamed Mkota:
“I don’t believe it’s him. It might be someone else’s lost child.”
Zuwena Juma:
“Please do a DNA test. Can a one-year-old remember home? I can’t even recall 1–10. The government should assist.”
