The development threw their mother into turmoil and ultimately into police custody on what they claim were false accusations orchestrated to pave the way for the new woman.

“That is when our mother told us that her marriage to our father was in shambles and she was worried his secretary would take over her space,” the son said.

The family alleges that Gaitho, revered in public as a spiritual leader of high regard, subjected his first wife to mental anguish and humiliation.

Archbishop Gaitho's first wife died

He even denied her the national chairlady position traditionally accorded to the wife of the Archbishop.

Instead, it was his new wife, the former secretary, who was given the position, essentially relegating his wife.

What followed was a dark period for the children. After years of emotional strain and public disgrace, their mother passed away.

In 2011, Gaitho himself died after a protracted battle with prostate cancer, marking a new phase of trouble.

Heartbroken, the son lamented how the clergyman’s personal decisions devastated their family unit and erased years of unity and security.

“We respected him as a man of God, but what happened at home was very different from the pulpit sermons,” he said.

While Archbishop Gaitho remains a respected figure in the church's history, his children say their lives carry scars from the choices he made behind closed doors.

With their father gone, his story is a sombre reminder that even revered public figures have private lives with consequences that ripple long after they’re gone.

They insisted that the only way normalcy would resume is if the current leadership resigns and a new lot is picked to lead the church.

"We want them out of their leadership positions. A new caretaker committee should be picked so that all the corruption that has happened under their tenure can be brought to light," one of the church members said.

The member also alleged immorality within the church, claiming that cases of 'homesexuals are rampant'.

"When we talk, no one listens," he added.

Another church member said:

"We do not have any bad intentions. We just need them to leave the office. If they come now and tell us that they have left office, everything will resume," she said.

Echoing her statements, another female church member said further investigations are needed to get to the root of any embezzlement.
