As she laid her daughter to rest in Ndumberi, Kiambu county, Lucy Ngugi had no more tears left for her beloved Bridgit Njoki Wainaina.
Which Grade was Bridgit in?
The little girl met her fate while watching television at home during the chaotic demonstrations when civilians clashed with anti-riot police.
While reading her tribute, she was joined on stage by her supportive husband, dressed in a black suit.

"Let's sit down. I think the day has broken. We have all stood up and listened to this dead girl here raising her voice today. I cannot express myself. Let me just read a short tribute, and I'll just call it a good day," she said as she composed herself, with a woman on her right holding the microphone for her.
She began her tribute with the last memory of her Grade Seven daughter, who was killed by a stray bullet.
What career would Brigit pursue?
Ngugi had hoped her little princess would grow up to be a beautiful and valuable woman in society.
"12 years seems like a day, and Bridgit, you will forever be 12 years old. I thought you would grow and become a beautiful woman from the girl you are, but that bullet... that bullet has shattered my dreams. The doctor you'd have become, the accountant you'd have become, that will never be real. Because you will forever be 12 years old, that bullet has cut short your dream.

It's not only your dream, but the love the affection we received from you, it's now gone. Now, our family chain is broken. It will never be complete, just because of that bullet. You were too innocent, Bridgit, to even understand the demonstrations. At home, we thought we were safe, but the bullet found its way," she said.

Ngugi condemned the anti-riot police officer who pulled the trigger, saying the bullet did not just enter her house by accident.
"Your memories will forever be etched in our hearts. You were a very loving daughter. You were simply the best. As your mom and your dad, we will live a life full of maybes, of what you could have become. I will see your age mates and always wonder what you could have been. My heart bleeds for the life cut short by that bullet.

Our leaders, listen here. No money, no compensation will bring my daughter back. I have left everything to Almighty God. Whoever pulled that trigger listen again. I know how men in uniform are. As you receive orders from your big bosses, listen. Whoever pulled that trigger, I may never know them, but God is full of justice," she said, adding that a part of her was buried the day her daughter died, and no words can heal her.
