Vihiga county – A heartbroken mother from Igunga in Vihiga county is making a desperate public appeal for help in locating her son, who vanished without a trace over a year ago.

The distraught Maragoli woman says it has now been one year and four months since she last saw her 22-year-old son, Hillary Omondi, who left their home and never returned.

How did Hillary Omondi disappear?

Elizabeth Mmbone, who shared the story, told TUKO.co.ke that Hillary simply walked out one day and disappeared without warning.

Despite relentless search efforts, the family has never heard from him again, and his phone number doesn't go through.

“Hillary alipotea tu ivo. Hakusema anaenda wapi, na hajawahi rudi. Tumeenda kila sehemu, kwa majamaa, kwa hospitali, hadi kwa mochari, lakini hakuna dalili zake,” the tearful mum said.

Their home is located opposite Igunga Girls along the Viyalo route, and the family says they have exhausted all options trying to trace Hillary.

Family seeks help to locate Hillary Omondi

The case has left the community shocked and in fear, with many sympathising with the mother’s pain and praying for a breakthrough.

They are appealing to anyone with information on Hillary’s whereabouts or those who may have seen him after his disappearance to come forward and help reunite a mother with her son.

Anyone with leads is urged to report to the nearest police station or reach out to the family directly.

Two weeks later, the search for his whereabouts has been fruitless, leaving his family grappling with questions that they can't seem to find answers to.

In Kericho county, Teddy Oduor Owino, the Form Four student who went missing after sneaking out of school, was found safe.
