Brenda Wawire claimed she stayed in an unhappy relationship for over a year before deciding to walk away.
How did Wawire and her man meet?
She admitted she hadn’t noticed any red flags when she started dating her boyfriend, having known him for only a few months.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, she reflected on how she met the man who eventually left her a single mum.
“I got a job at a hotel as a waitress, and he was a chef. We were colleagues, then friends, and eventually lovers. Everything seemed glamorous at first, we were enjoying love. I never saw anything off with him, so I believed everything was fine,” she said.
However, things changed after Brenda got pregnant. Her partner started sleeping out and often came home very late.
How did Wawire's lover change?
He would claim to be working catering gigs, which made Brenda increasingly suspicious due to their frequency.
“I later found out he was actually spending time with his baby mamas. He also stopped caring, sometimes he would leave me without food or with just KSh 100.
He started drinking, and whenever he returned home, it was all drama, fights, and insults. I got used to it. I felt I had no choice and nowhere to go,” she recalled.
The 28-year-old single mum of one said that even after giving birth, her partner showed no concern for her or the baby.
Why and when did Wawire leave her relationship?
“Life went on, but it was tough for me. Sometimes, I stayed with relatives because things at home were unbearable, no food, no essentials. The drama and fights never stopped. He kept drinking, sleeping out, and shirking responsibility.

I prayed and fasted because I believed in second chances. I hoped he would change and become the loving man I first met. I never told anyone what I was going through. I protected him because I loved him so much,” Wawire narrated.
But Wawire’s patience eventually ran out. She made a conscious decision to leave with her baby after getting fed up with her baby daddy.
She also feared for their safety, especially after he allegedly rejected the baby and once reportedly stole the child from her.
