Kamengere passed away at Chiromo Hospital’s Braeside Branch less than 24 hours after being forcefully admitted.

She was reportedly admitted by four individuals against her will, and her death occurred hours later on Tuesday, July 15.

Njenga had remained silent on the matter but finally addressed the demise of nurse Kamengere.

"A brilliant young woman known to me personally died in our care. That demands more than sorrow. It demands truth. I appreciate that many questions abound in the minds of the family and the public at large," part of his statement read.

He acknowledged that all questions arising from the heartbreaking incident "must be answered and shall be answered in due course of investigation by the relevant entities."

Njenga added that the best way to honor Kamengere was by ensuring the truth surrounding the circumstances of her death was established in an open and transparent manner.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue to probe the tragic incident that has left the victim's family in anguish.

The DCI is working to unearth the final moments of the medical practitioner and uncover the truth about her death.

A postmortem conducted on Wednesday, July 23, established that Kamengere died from being strangled.

Staff members who accessed and handled Kamengere during her brief stay at the facility were interrogated by detectives.

Investigators also reviewed CCTV footage in their quest to piece together her final moments.

Two other patients who shared the room with Kamengere on the fateful day were also questioned.

However, it was reported that one patient attendant said to have accessed Kamengere while she was in the facility went missing.

The individual reportedly disappeared on Wednesday, July 16, and police continue to search for him.

Susan Kamengere's sister speaks

In another report, Kamengere’s sister revealed that the deceased made a distressed call to the family before being forcefully injected by four men.

Priscilla Wanjiku swiftly responded to her sister’s heart-wrenching call and rushed to Kamengere’s house, only for the watchman to hand her a note.

Prior to her death, Kamengere had shared a Facebook post naming the person who had allegedly sent the men to apprehend her.
