She knew that she could not just sit down and watch her family suffer, so she started looking for ways to get out of the country.

"I worked on my passport and job application slowly, and getting the money for it was not easy either," she said.

How was life in Saudi Arabia?

Just as with some Kenyans who returned from Saudi Arabia with horrible stories of what they had been through, Audry also shared that life was not so easy in the Gulf country.

"I have worked there for four years and I went rough a very difficult phase on my life. One time I even broke my hand badly and they did not care about me. Imagine I had to work," he said.
"I used to cry every day and all the problems I had were between God and I. I used to pray and work so hard while painstakingly saving a big percentage of the money I got. I would send the remaining to my family back at home for the upkeep of my parents," she added.

How did Audry manage to build from abroad?

Remembering fondly the day she started building, the young woman said that she was told a permanent house was going to be expensive, and this was proven when she started buying materials.

The house is a brick affair with the front part styled and well set against the majestic roofing. The best thing about the house is its workmanship.

"What makes me happy is that I built a house for my parents. Then I am planning to buy a piece of land, but I'm still chasing my dream," she said.
"What I can tell my fellow girls working in the Gulf is to stop sending money to men you have met on social media. Make your dreams come true and work on your goals because some men are really using our girls who are working in the Middle East. Whenever a man asks you for money just block him," she added.

What challenges did Audry face?

According to Audry, the main challenge that she faced was brought about by family and it pained her so much that she almost threw herself off a building to die.

"I had given them money to start the building, but they used it all up and almost caused my death. I got a friend who advised me, so I added three years to my contracts; so all of these things I have done them in two years," she said.
