"An accident occurred in Chunya, Mbeya, Tanzania around 5:30 am, leading to the deaths of five learners and injuring nine others. "The students were jogging when the horrible incident occurred. The bus and the students were heading in the same direction. It’s unfortunate and shocking that the driver hit the children who were in front of him, causing the deaths I have mentioned," he added.

Netizens react to road accident in Tanzania

Social media users were shattered by the loss of young lives and flooded the comments section with emotional messages:

priscuskimaro6643:

"Poleni sana... Ila kuna la kujifunza. Binafsi mimi sibarikiwi kabisa ninapoona watu wanakimbia kwenye highway, tena upande ambao wameupa mgongo magari yanayokuja. Ndugu zangu, kuna kufeli break, gari kupoteza muelekeo, dereva kusinzia...

NTSA's guidelines on Kenyan school buses

In Kenya, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) released guidelines to enhance the safety of Kenyan learners during daily commutes.

For starters, the NTSA ordered school buses or vehicles ferrying students to have the words 'school bus' written on the front and back.

The school vehicles should also have a complaints number, so that in case they are being driven carelessly, a report can be made to the people in charge.
