Nelly Cheboi: Tech Educator Shows Off House She Built Mum Who Raised 4 Daughters in Mabati House

Philanthropist Nelly Cheboi, who won the CNN Heroes Award 2022, has shown off the house she built for her dear mum.

The young lady from Mogotio grew up in abject poverty, but that did not hold her back from achieving her dreams. After school, Cheboi won a scholarship to study Computer Science at Augustana College in Illinois, then landed a well-paying job in Chicago.

She later founded TechLit Africa, a school that teaches children digital skills using reused computers she got from her friends.

How did Cheboi's mum raise 4 daughters?

In 2022, the only African nominated for the CNN Heroes award shared her humble past as the daughter of a mama mboga (vegetable vendor)."

"To know Christina Cheboi is to know a woman who defied every obstacle to educate her four daughters," said Cheboi.
"To know Christina’s daughters is to know formidable women who carry, and forever honour, the struggles she endured to raise us," she added.

In a Facebook post, Cheboi shared photos of the house they grew up in while still young. Basically, the house was made of mabati as the wall and the entrance had a blind for privacy.

Despite their humble beginnings, Cheboi's mum and her daughters looked happy and content with the knowledge that there will be better days.

In another story, Cheboi recalled how she decided to take a leap of faith with her boyfriend, Tyler, and they started TechLit Africa.

According to the award-winning philanthropist, they quit their jobs in America to pursue their dream of fighting poverty through the use of technology.

Previously, Nelly offered a glimpse into TechLit’s impact, as a primary student from Baringo county showed the website he built.
