Residents were shattered after discovering that the couple had died in their house within the vicinity.
Huruma Mwakanyamale and her husband Richard Mwaluko were found lifeless in their bedroom.
When did Huruma Mwakanyamale, Richard Mwaluko die?
It was alleged that they died on the night of Friday, July 25, but residents only learned about it on Saturday, July 26.
Wails and bitter cries filled the air as residents learned of the death of the beloved married couple.
"I received a call on Saturday, July 26 around 1pm, but I was unable to pick it as I was in church. Later on, a young man followed me to church and delivered the news. The couple was his neighbours. He told me the couple had killed each other. So I stepped out as he narrated the whole ordeal to me.
I boarded a motorbike and headed to the scene. I left the young man who broke the news behind; he was the one who had the keys to the alleged murder scene," said Emmanuel Mwandembwa, the chairman of the area.
Mwandembwa describes Huruma's state
Upon reaching the compound, a little boy directed him to the bedroom, but since the door was closed, Mwandembwa had to look through the window.
He scanned the room and saw two lifeless bodies, one on the floor and the other on the bed.
"After a short while, the young man who had the keys to the house arrived and opened the door for me. I went straight to the bedroom and looked at the bodies. Huruma had some wounds on her neck," he added.
Mwandembwa's plea to couples
Mwandembwa was crushed by what he witnessed, and he implored couples to talk out their issues so they do not escalate to such tragic levels.
He noted that, together with a group he was forming, they aimed to talk to couples, offering them information on how to handle conflicts.
"It should not reach a point where lovers or couples kill each other. Every disagreement should find a solution, a peaceful way to resolve it. We do not encourage such violent measures as solutions to fights and disagreements. Life is too precious to be mishandled in such a manner," he said.
Mwandembwa added that it was the first time such an incident had happened under his leadership in Mpugusho village, Rungwe district, Mbeya region, Tanzania, and he hoped it would be the last.
