These include severe human bite wounds, some of which are reportedly concentrated around his nether area.
The woman alleged to be behind the abuse, identified as Beatrice Asembe, is currently being held at Kitale Police Station as investigations continue.
Details indicate that the child’s mother, Pauline Asembe, is working in Nairobi as a house help.
How was Kitale boy surviving?
She had entrusted her son to her own mother’s care in Kitale while she sought employment to provide for him.
However, it appears that trust has been gravely betrayed.
“The boy looked starved and traumatised. He was only eating when kind neighbours offered him food,” said one of the residents who helped rescue the child. “We caught the grandmother in the act today and couldn’t keep quiet anymore.”
Police and child welfare officers are now working to ensure the boy receives immediate medical attention and psychological support.
